SPR Therapeutics is committed to improving the lives of millions of pain sufferers. Its peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) platform technology is poised to be the standard of care and, ultimately, the treatment of choice for pain management.
Mission
My Contributions
As a UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for designing the remote feature in the native app. The goal was to create a user-friendly experience for customers using the app for the first time in replace of the handheld remote. This remote aspect of the app allows users to effortlessly customize their pain management system all from their phones.
Designing the Remote
Defining the User Flow
I started by collaborating on a flowchart showing how the app and the remote would be organized. The client had some features in mind, so we discussed them and included them in the plan.
UX/UI Design
One of the most important aspects that was considered during the remote app design was how to transfer the functionality of the handheld remote to a mobile app.
This was done through some UX best practices:
Understanding the core functions of the physical remote (e.g., power on/off, starting your leads, and adjusting the intensity).
Ensuring the app remote is touch-friendly by designing all buttons and controls large enough for easy tapping. In our design, we utilize large hit areas and give ample spacing to improve usability.
Using a pattern of visual hierarchy by emphasizing key actions like start and stop through size, color, and placement. This helps users quickly locate the most important features.
Making sure the app works well across different devices and orientations.
By focusing on simplicity, clarity, and touch-friendly design, we were able to translate the experience of using a handheld remote into an enhanced mobile app interface that feels more intuitive and functional.
